Piercing on illegal brick kilns in the Thadargam valley
The court ordered the closure of the kiln while hearing the petition submitted by Rajendran Veerapandi in Coimbatore.
The Madras High Court questioned the authorities because they did not implement its order, the officials went down to work on Friday, and Closure of the kiln-sealed brick kilns that function without a license in the Thadargam valley.
Twenty illegal brick kilns sealed
Twenty illegal brick kilns sealed on the first day of hard action. T Mahesh, Tahsildar of Coimbatore North Taluk confirmed his development to TNIE and added that all illegal units in the valley would be closed immediately.
197 kilns of brick functioned in the valley
The court ordered the closure of the kiln while hearing the petition submitted by Rajendran Veerapandi in Coimbatore. The applicant claimed that as many as 197 kilns of brick functioned in the valley, which consisted of five revenue villages of Chinna Thadagam, 24 Veerapandi Pirivu, Somayampalayam, 22 Nanjundapuram, and Pannimadas.
Hill Area Conservation Authority (HACA)
He added that red sand is mined in a way that is indiscriminate by the kiln and that an average of 80 to 120 feet is being excavated. All units were illegal because the valley is under the jurisdiction of the Hill Area Conservation Authority (HACA).
Direction to Tamil Nadu Nadu Pollution Control Board and Coimbatore District Administration
Hearing the submission, the High Court on January 6 directed the Tamil Nadu Nadu Pollution Control Board and Coimbatore District Administration to take action against the brick kiln. Since officials failed to obey direction, the court passed another order on February 10 and demanded that compliance reports would be submitted within six weeks.
On Friday, a team consisting of officials from the revenue dept, pollution control boards, geology and mining, forests, police, electricity, the Ministry of Agriculture, and HACA began Closure of the kiln, sealing units in the valley.
